I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio — a special place that is still my home today. My first significant exposure to computers and design came to me around age 11. My parents bought a desktop computer with a touchscreen, and my discovery of digital design evolved from MS Paint to The GIMP, and then to an even more powerful tool: Photoshop. With outlets such as LiveJournal and DeviantArt, I spent years dabbling in graphic design before I ever knew what or how significant it was.
In junior high and high school, I practically lived at my computer desk while I wasn't studying, teaching myself as much as I could in various creative programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Vegas Pro. In high school, I studied web design, video production, and was the dubbed "Photoshop Guru" on the yearbook committee. After earning my diploma, I earned a certificate in Web Design & Development from Stark State College.
I scored my first small-agency graphic design position before ending my college studies in early 2017. I learned a lot to supplement my self-taught design skills while working there, and it was the perfect opportunity to help me prepare for a role with bigger shoes to fill in 2018. For the past two years, I worked for an international publishing company, designing children's coloring books and activity kits for many licenses, including but certainly not limited to, Disney, Nickelodeon, Universal, and DreamWorks. My experience with branding/advertising design grew, teaching me how to more effectively bend the elements to my will and understand how design ties in to print production.
